About Los Los Charcos beach

Los Charcos beach is a sheltered beach which has two sea walls either side of the bay mouth making it a safe place to swim, snorkel and enjoy the sea. There are almost no rips or dangerous currents. Crowds are normally very low here.

Next to the parking area is an area of planted grass and trees. You can sit here in the sun or shade and watch the sports people wing foil or windsurf. Sit on the grass, have a picnic or just relax and sunbath. There is no other spot with grass, shade and beach views in Lanzarote

Los Charcos grass, shade and trees

There are three sections to Los Charcos beach where you can sunbath and relax on the sand:

1 – The centre section of beach.
This is closest to the parking area.  The centre is good for lighter wind days as the sand does not get blown everywhere. There is a ramps and steps for beach entry and a shower.
Enter the sea in the small section of lesser rocks and higher tides. At low tide you can walk out over the flat rocks, take care for slippy surfaces.

2 – Northern end of Los Charcos beach
This part of the beach has the easiest entry into the water at all tides. The sand from the beach runs right into the sea at certain points. On windy days this part of the beach is more sheltered as the wind comes from behind.  Walk around the promenade from the car park to get to this  beach.

Los Charcos North end beach

3 – South end of Los Charcos beach
This part of the beach normally has the fewest people. There is lots of deep white sand. On windy days you can find a secluded stone shelter. Entry to and from the sea is over flat shaped rocks but can be a little tricky. Take it slow as can be slippy with some unexpected larger rocks to catch your feet on.

More about Los Charcos beach in general

Water is clear and good for snorkeling and swimming.

Best time to swim is between mid to high tide. At low tide a lot of rocks start to show and getting to the water can be tricky. The left hand or Northerly end of the beach is sheltered with easier access into the sea. For windy days there are some stone shelters or the sea wall can be utilised to stay out of the wind.

The bay is a half circle with sand and rock bottom.

Beach access is very good. There are ramps from the car park and again to the sand of the beach. Am mentioned above for the best water access make sure to go at high tide.

Next to the car park is an actual grassy and shady area where you can sit, watch the beach and have a picnic. Relax on the grass in shade or in the sun and be close to the car.

On windy days from mid to high tide there can be a lot of Wing Foilers and Windsurfers here, especially in Summer. It is great fun to sit and watch the wing foilers and windsurfers navigating around the bay and out to sea.
For a better view you can walk around the coastal walkway to the end of either pier to the right or left of the bay. From the end if either pier you get great views.

Just next to the beach are several snack bars and close by are also a few supermarkets.

All the beaches in Costa Teguise are joined via a beautiful sea front promenade. The promenade stretches from a few hundred meters North of Los Charcos beach all the way South as far as the house used by the King of Spain. The walk from one end of the promenade to the other is around four kilometres passing by all the beaches of Costa Teguise.

Summary

Los Charcos is a nice quiet beach in Costa Teguise. Plenty of parking. Clear water and easy access to the sand from the car park with ramps and steps. Seating on the promenade to watch windsurfers and wing foilers on windy days.
