Las Cucharas beach is a huge bay. This is the main and largest beach in Costa Teguise. It is the perfect family beach with everything you need all close to hand. Safe swimming, sun beds, good sand with a long promenade full of all kinds of shops.
The beach is located in the centre of town. There is parking at different car parks and locations all around the beach. From parking places to the beach itself is a minute or two walk to get onto the sand.
Las Cucharas is a large golden sandy beach split into two halves by a rock pier.
Water quality is good, warm but can be a little murky.
Looking out to sea the bay makes a complete semi circle. Width of the beach is around 600 meters. To the very right side is a sea wall and some moorings for boats. Coming inland from the right edge is a rock section backed by a promenade stretching the full length of Costa Teguise. After the rocky section the sandy beach starts. The full length of the beach section is 400 meters split in half a rock made pier.
Areas of sun beds are located at each end of the beach. Each sun bed has a parasol you can put up or down. Sun beds are charged for between 10am and 6pm. Prices per day for sun beds on Las Cucharas beach are 4 euros for one sun bed or 12 euros for two sun beds and a large parasol.
The sun bed zones are located in a position well sheltered from the wind and close to the sea.
There is lots of comfortable space to lay your towels on the sand of La Cucharas beach.
To the right side of the beach is a specific swimming area encircled by buoys. At the centre of the beach by the stone tower are the lifeguards. The beach is protected by these lifeguards.
There are few to no rocks under the water at the swimming part of the beach.
The left hand side of the beach at high tide is fine to enter the water. At lower tides some flat rocks appear which are slippery. Entering with care is fine.
Las Cucharas beach is world famous for its wing foiling and wind surfing conditions. Inside the bay shelter is created by the taller buildings and hotels slowing or stopping any wind. Wind surfers and wing foilers enter the water just to the right of the central rock pier. Swimmers are advised to keep this small area clear.
Once the wing foilers and wind surfers get further out to sea the winds increase. The stronger winds and larger waves just outside the Las Cucharas bay create world class conditions for the water sports enthusiasts.
There are lots of wing foil and windsurfing schools located around Las Cucharas bay. Lessons and equipment hire is available from several locations behind and beach.
For complete safety small ribs cruise around the bay advising and helping learners of these fun water and wind sports.
The beach front promenade that stretches the full length of Costa Teguise has the most shops, pubs, bars, bike hire, windsurf and wing foil schools and restaurants around Las Cucharas beach.
The promenade is well finished with separate parts for bicycles and pedestrians. Walking or cycling along the Las Cucharas promenade is a great way to see and enjoy all there is to offer.
Las Cucharas beach is one of the busiest beaches in Costa Teguise for good reason. The beach is pretty, there are lifeguards, loads of shops and supplies for the whole family to have a great day.
