Best Playa Blanca beaches for families.

The safest and most family beaches are Playa Dorada and Playa Flamingo. Both beaches are backed by a promenade adorned with shops, bars and restaurants. Playa Dorada and Playa Flamingo are sheltered by sea walls keeping any dangerous currents and waves outside. Sun beds are available for rent. Just get yourselves seated and the man comes along for payment.

Water is clean and of good quality with some ok snorkelling. Sea temperatures are warm all year round peaking in September.

These are separated into eight different beaches along the same stretch of coast. Most popular beach is the photogenic beach of Playa del Papagayo.

This is also the busiest and most sheltered beach. Located in a small cove with two bars and toilets on the hill leading down to them.

Access to the Papagayo beaches is along a dirt track with s small entry fee. Parking is good with access near to the actual beaches.

Snorkelling at any of the Papagayo beaches is very good.

The least busy beach in Playa Blanca

Playa Montana Roja

The quietest beach in Playa Blanca is Playa de Montana Roja. This is a very small beach with not too much sand and tricky water entry. Backed by a promenade and lovely chiringuito, or beach bar, just nearby.

For a quiet relaxing time with a non touristic feel this is the beach to go to.
