Playa de la Arena is a hidden jewel of a beach hidden in the centre of Arrecife. Golden sand and clear water with super safe swimming make this a great find.
Playa de la Arena is located within the Arrecife Harbour. Access to the beach is along the coastal promenade. Park on the side of the road that passes above the beach and walk down along the path.
Arriving via bicycle can be fun as the beach is along the enjoyble coastal path.
Located in the harbour can sound a little intimidating but there is plenty of distance from any ships. High walls to the Northern and inland edge of this South facing beach gives it great protection from the prevailing Lanzarote winds.
The beach itself is very sheltered from rough seas with nice golden sand. Water is crystal clear with no dangerous currents or waves.
Entry to the sea is across the sand and easy at any tide. Swimming and snorkelling is safe if kept close to the beach.
This is no a beach known or frequented by many tourists. Most week days you will have the whole beach to yourself. From the beach you look out to the Arrecife Marina and the Castillo de San Jose where you can enjoy a lovely lunch.
To each side of the beach are rocks for climbing over and exploring.
Inland from the beach at around a five minute walk are shops, bars and cafes aimed at residents and local workers. Quality and prices of food and drinks is good.
Playa de la Arena is well off the beaten tourist track. Nice, quiet and sheltered beach with lots of facilities nearby.
Wow this beach is really tucked away.
Lovely golden sandy beach and clear water with no one around.
Very sheltered and safe.
