Overview of  Playa Honda beach

Playa Honda beach is located next to the Lanzarote airport. This is a very long golden sand beach with lots of room. Behind the beach is a fantastic promenade with some great bars and restaurants.

Getting there

To get to the Playa Honda beach take the turn off from the LZ2 at Playa Honda. Follow the road towards the sea. There was a large beach car park but this has been closed. To park now you will need to find a parking space in the residential areas. After parking just head towards the sea and walk along the beach promenade until you find the part you like the look of.
If you are staying in Puerto del Carmen there is a beautiful sea front promenade that stretches all the way to Arrecife via Playa Honda. A great way to get to Play Honda can be by hiring a bike and cycling past the airport runway and on to the beach.

About Playa Honda beach

Playa Honda beach is a lovely long continuous stretch of golden sand. The long sandy beach of Playa Honda is interestingly broken up with some rocky sections. Entry to the sea at the sand parts of the beach is easy with the occasional rock on the ocean bed.

Alongside and behind parts of the beach is the Lanzarote airport.

If you walk along the promenade next to the airport behind the beach to the South you enter into a section of the beach with very few people. The part of the beach near the start of the airport runway is called Playa de Guasimeta. If you like to have a beautiful beach almost to yourself and watch aeroplanes take off and land this is the place to be.
Most people using the beach live in the surrounding areas of Playa Honda.
The beach can also be very good when some wind blows when you will see wind surfers, kite surfers and wing foilers appear.
Along the full length of the beach stretching from Puerto del Carmen and on to Arrecife is a fantastic promenade. The promenade in the Playa Honda area has a number of great bars and restaurants. Because the eateries in the area cater for residents the prices and quality of food and drink are very good.

Playa Honda is a lovely golden sand beach set just next to the local town. The promenade running behind the beach has lots of great bars and restaurants. You can get to the beach via car, bus or along the beach front promenade.
