Puerto del Carmen has a total of nine beaches.

Each beach in Puerto del Carmen has a different character and feel, there is at least one to suit everyone.

From Playa La Lima at the Northern end of town all the way to Playa Chica at the Southern end Puerto del Carmen has an amazing selection of beaches.

Quiet beaches of Puerto del Carmen

The Northern end of Puerto del Carmen has the most quiet beaches with the fewest people.

The most peaceful beaches in Puerto del Carmen are:-

• Playa La Lima
• Hoyas Hondas
• Playa Matagorda
• Playa de los Pocillos

Overall the further North and away from the centre of Puerto del Carmen the fewer people are on the beach. These  lovely beaches with golden sand and safe swimming conditions.

Access to the quiet beaches is via the coastal promenade on foot or bicycle. Using inland roads you can arrive at the more Northern beaches via car or bus.

Largest beach in Puerto del Carmen

Puerto del Carmen’s largest beach is Playa Los Pocillos. The beach is a around two kilometers long and 500 meters wide. On very high tides an inland lagoon forms with shallow and warm water.

Central beaches of Puerto del Carmen

In the heart of Puerto del Carmen just off the main beach road are a number of lovely beaches. There are more people here but also more facilities. Close by will be a huge selection of shops, bars and restaurants plus banks, car hire, bicycle hire and more.

Best snorkelling beach in Puerto del Carmen

The best snorkelling beach in Puerto del Carmen is Playa Chica.

This little beach is a real gem. From the shore it is a pretty beach with a rocky out crop either side and a boat quay to the right.

Enter the water with a snorkel and mask and some goggles and prepare to be amazed. Once you dip your head below the surface a whole new marine world comes to life. There is an abundance of all kinds of beautiful fish in the sea at Playa Chica.

The beach is safe for all the family. There is a restaurant on the quay side just next to the Playa Chica beach.
