Caleton Blanco overview

One of the most beautiful beaches in Lanzarote. Made up of lots of small lagoons with crystal clear water. Very safe. Lots of parts to explore, swim and snorkell. Parking on the beach.

Caleton Blanco Location

Getting there is easy if you have a hire car. Just follow LZ1 up the east coast road in a Northerly direction. The beach is about 2 kilometers before Orzola. See the right turn off the main road onto a short track. Parking on the sand covered parking area. At high tide waters edge is close to parking area. See photo above showing the main road and the turn off to the parking.

About Caleton Blanco beach

This is truly an idyllic beach. At Caleton Blanca there is not an open ocean rolling waves type of vibe. This is a new kind of amazing. Picture white sand, glass clear sea in multiple lagoons with volcanic rocks and sea life. You can take a shallow warm water exploration adventure across several amazing lagoons. If you love a beach then do not miss this gem that would give any paradisaical beach in the world a run for its money  A very peaceful and beautiful place to relax, sunbath and swim whilst the hours trickle happily and calmly by. Note that the lagoons are best enjoyed around high tide when they are full. At low tide there is still great fun to be had but with the water level lower some of the lagoons can be empty of water.

Getting the most from Caleton Blanco

The trick is to come prepared. Bring everything you need with you as there are no shops at this beach. The better prepared the longer you can relax and enjoy.

Bring all your provisions with  you. The nearest supermarket is a few kilometers away at the start of Orzola on the left. Either bring everything with you or pop into the supermarket and grab the days provisions there.

Essential provisions for a day at the beach are plenty of water and sunscreen. If you want to spend a  full day at the beach bring some food in the form of snacks or sandwiches, crisps etc. To take advantage of the shallow clear waters snorkels and masks are goggles are a great idea.

The shallow beach means the tide can move a long way. To lay close to the waters edge the sand can be a little damp so thick towels or even yoga mats work really well.

On the picture above you can see there are a series of lagoons to enjoy. New lagoons  appear and disappear as the tide moves in and out. Swimming through the lagoons is great adventure, explore, swim and have some good honest fun.

On windy days there are many semi circular shelters mate from the rounded stones found on the beach. Once set up inside one of these shelters, or ‘Zocos’, the wind will be gone just leaving the sun and tan and warm you through.

Coastal walk

Along the coast in both directions are small paths to walk along. These paths head both West to Orzola and East along and around the coast. The paths keep going into more beaches, coves and past some great volcanic rock formations. The walking is very interesting and unspoiled but the going can be tough, make sure to wear some good walking shoes.

Dangers, Rips and strong currents

The swimming areas are made from small lagoons with no wave and rips. Very safe for all the family to swim and snorkel. Do not explore too far outside of the lagoons. The main sea far beyond this area can have waves and rips.
