Arrieta beach is a safe dark golden coloured sand beach in Arrieta.
Located in the town of Arrieta and next close to lots facilities.
There is a man made island connected to the land via bridge to walk on and jump off.
Take the LZ1 up the east coast of Lanzarote. The road goes right past the beach.
To park turn right at the roundabout, drive to the end and turn right again. Park in the roads near the beach.
You can also park in the middle of the beach.
Take the right turn about 300 meters before the Arrieta roundabout onto a track. Follow the track to the parking area. There is also a nice bar and restaurant located in the middle of the beach. With terraces and amazing views
Arrieta is a 500 meter long sandy beach. About half way along there is a short section with rock boulders, you can walk over these.
At the Northern end of the beach is Arrieta town. This section of the beach is the most sheltered from the wind and waves. Lanzarote can be windy but at the Northern end of Arrieta beach you are sheltered from the prevailing wind.
There are toilets, nearby restaurants, a supermarket and garage.
This end of the beach is the most popular but does not get too full.
The beach is normally safe for swimming. Water colour is brown due to silt build up brought down on the odd occasion it rains.
Playa La Garita is a great family beach. Small waves and almost no currents mean the water is normally safe. Sometimes in Winter the waves get bigger and with waves come rips, take care on these days.
There is a volley ball net and court on the beach.
To the left of the beach is a short pier leading to a little island. This is a nice spot to walk along or swim out to and jump into the sea. The pier add a nice bit of character to the beach and the kids love it.
There are a few winter days when the surf at Playa Garita is great for beginner to mid level surfers. The waves are not too big or powerful. Surfing at this beach takes place not too far from the shore due to the smaller wave sizes here. The ocean bottom under where the waves break is mainly sand.
You will need to bring your own surf board and wet suit as local hire companies do not exist. If you need to hire equipment then the town of Famara is the best location for this on Lanzarote.
As with most of the Lanzarote coastline there is almost always a coastal path. Heading North from Arrieta beach is the town of Arrieta followed closely by the town of Punta Mujeres. Walking North from Arrieta is just town for a few kilometers then you have the coastal path from Punta Mujeres to Jameos del Agua.
Walking South from the Playa Garita is far more rewarding. As you leave the beach the coastline is made of small rocky cliffs. From Arrieta until the town of Charco del Palo the coastline is uninterrupted.
There are some interesting features to explore and check out. Roughly three kilometers from the beach along the coast are some great blow holes. The blow holes become spectacular when the waves on Arrieta beach become bigger.
This a a nice easy coastal walk with few people.
A great and safe family beach with all the amenities nearby for a great day in the sun.
At the end of the day there are lots of great restaurants within walking distance where you can enjoy a relaxing meal.
