Femes is a small traditional Lanzarote town steeped in history with a well kept town centre and a great look out point with views to Playa Blanca and Fuerteventura beyond
Take the LZ 702 that connects Maciot and Uga. Going in the direction of Uga, Femes is the town at the end of the long valley just before a sharp descent to Maciot and Playa Blanca beyond.

In the middle of the town is a town square and beautiful old church.
Femes is perched at an altitude of 450 meters at the top of a long valley just before the descent towards Playa Blanca.
There are great views from the look out point of Femes. The vistas let you look out of Playa del Janubio to the right, Playa Blanca and even Fuerteventura in the distance.
At the view point are a couple of nice restaurants and bars where you can enjoy a drink and a meal whilst absorbing the amazing views.
Femes was originally founded as a look out point and early warning centre for invading pirates.
The church is called ‘Ermita Categral de San Marcial de Rubicon built in 1730.
Femes is located in the volcanic zone known as Los Ajaches. The crater of the volcano called the Atalaya de Femes expelled a huge amount of basalt lava. This lava flowed down to the sea on the east coast and created the area known as Los Apaches.
Fiestas in Femes
The town celebrates the San Marcial fiesta on July 7th. Part of the celebrations include the parading through the streets of a likeness of the saint Solemn Eucharist.
Another large celebration taking place in Femes is that of the Virgin of the Rosary on October 7th.
