Costa Teguise is one of the three main tourist resorts in Lanzarote. What was formerly mainly an area used for salt reclamation was turned into a purpose built tourist resort. The first hotels in the area were the Melia Salinas hotel and the Beatriz Hotel.
From the Northern end of town all the way to the Spanish Kings house to the South there is a lovely water front promenade that passes seven beaches. The promenade has limited use just for walker and cyclists. The cyclists have their own cycle path market by painted lines.
As you stroll or cycle along the promenade you go past the commercial centre of town that starts near Jablillo beach and ends at Las Cucharas beach.
You will find the most shops, bars and restaurants adjacent to the promenade as you pass through Las Cucharas beach. The promenade ends about 500 meters after Los Charcos beach as you head North.

This tiny little hamlet does not have a beach but you can swim from the rock. Find Los Ancones by driving or walking along the track that heads North along the coast from Costa Teguise.
There are just a few houses and some really good coastal walks. If you want swim there are a few places to enter the sea from the rocks but it’s not the easiest. Not suitable for families.
Some of the beaches in Costa Teguise are so picturesque they almost take your breath away.
The prettiest picture postcard beach is Jablillo beach. This little bay has crystal clear blue water and some great snorkelling. Three sides of this very sheltered bay have sand and are good for sunbathing. Not only is it very beautiful but also very central with lots of parking adjacent.

This is a small golden sand beach just in front of the Melia Salinas Hotel. Originally it was purpose built when the Meilia Salinas hotel was constructed.
The golden sand was brought in by lorries and is still there in abundance today. To add character to the beach on the left side is a long sea wall that you can walk along and watch the wind surfers and wing foilers doing their thing just in front.
Los Charcos beach is best from mid to high tide. This is a lovely golden sand beach enclosed by two harbour walls. There is a car park right on the beach with grass and palm trees just adjacent. The beach comes alive around high tide when wing foilers and wind surfers launch from the beach and head out to sea.
If your accommodation is located a little to the South of central Costa Teguise you may find that Playa Bastian is nearby. This is a handy beach along side an amazing looking restaurant called Villa Toledo. The beach is not so pretty but it has good character with a small sand entry and lots of entry points over some smooth rocks. There is a car park nearby with more shops and restaurants. Access to the car park for Playa Bastian is via some back roads, there is almost always plenty of available spaces.
