There is one road in and out of Playa Quemada. Take the turn towards the sea from the roundabout at Lanzarote A Caballo and follow it to the end. From the roundabout its just a five minute drive. There is plenty of parking all around the town.

About Playa Quemada

Playa Quemada is the polar opposite of any of the main tourist towns. This sleepy little village has a stoney beach and black sand beach.

Along the water front as you drive into the town are a number of very good restaurants with great views out to sea. People travel from all over the island to enjoy the fares of these well located restaurants.

The town, or more built up area, has a few houses and a couple of snack bars. There are no shops, banks or other places of commerce apart from food places. This is a quiet and peaceful location that insists you slow down and relax.

There are two types of beach in Playa Quemada.
The closest beach to town is made of of large rocks with a few gaps in between. Entry to the sea is a little tricky.
Past the town to the South is a large black sand beach. Access can be tricky at high tide as you new to get past a rocky out crop. The other option to access the other beach at hight tide is to walk over the headland and back down to the beach along a steep path.
The beach itself is quiet and relaxing. Entry to the sea is ok with some rocks to avoid. Take care if there are waves as they can break all of a sudden and with power on the beach.

Sport in Playa Quemada

In winter time when winds come from the East Playa Quemada can be a great location for Paragliding and Hang Gliding.

There is a perfect take off spot found on the first high point above the beach at the South End of the town

Playa Quemada Summary

Lovely sleepy and relaxing town with a nice black sand beach and a selection of very good water front sea food restaurants.
