Beautiful beach and surrounding area. Little used with tricky water access. Great for snorkeling. Very peaceful.
Drive to Jameos del Agua along the LZ1. Turn into the popular Cesar Manrique constructed attraction. As you enter the main car park take the left hand route the goes around the side of the main building. Go through the narrow section and into this lesser used car park. Park here then walk down to the beach. Distance from parking area to beach around 200 meters.
There are several places to sunbath around the small headland of Jameos del Agua. Lots of lovely white sand areas with a rocky shore line.
This is a very picturesque spot where lava and volcanic activity from the past enter the present.
Surfable waves can often be found here especially in Winter.
Access to the sea is across the rocks. Find a suitable place to enter the water and take care. When waves are breaking do not enter the water. Larger waves bring currents and difficult entry and exit from the sea.
Best sea entry points are a small cove section to the Southern end of this part of the coast. Another good sea entry point is at the tip of the headland where the main section of sandy beach is found.
In Winter and times of strong Northerly winds good surf waves can be found at Jameos del Agua. The wave is not too technical for surfing but getting in and out the water can be difficult.
There are two wave spots at Jameos del Agua.
The first, and often best, wave is a powerful right hand wave breaking on the left side of the small headland and reef. Paddle out off the rocks in front of the wave.
The second surf wave at Jameos del Agua is a left hand point wave. Normally small and not too powerful this is good for a mid level surfer. Enter the sea by jumping off the rocks near where the wave breaks. Time you entry into the sea between the larger set waves. Exit the sea further down the point in a little key hole exit point.
Jameos del Agua has amazing wind surfing and wing foiling conditions only for advanced riders. Entry and exit from the sea can be tricky.
The South from Jameos del Agua along the coast is a nicely formed path. The Southerly coastal path leads to Punta Mujeres which is two kilometers away. This path is level and of an easy level. Walk past some nice little bays and on the right day some amazing surf spots.
The landscape in this whole area is made of volcanic rock and small bushes.
There is another walk along the coast North from Jameos del Agua. This path is smaller and more challenging than the Southerly walk but as satisfying, full of new features to find and enjoy.
