La Caleta beach overview

Small lesser known and used beach. Sheltered from prevailing winds and large waves. Small beach and entry point into sea. Good swimming and snorkeling. Perfect for beach lovers of peace and unspoilt nature.

La Caleta beach Location

To get to this beach you had North along the LZ1. Go past Jameos de Agua and carry on for another 5 kilometers. The car park is on the left side of the road as you had North. Park and walk along the road then go onto the path that leads to the beach. Walk from car  park to beach is around 300 meters.

La Caleta Beach

This is not a well known or used beach. A great find with peace, quiet, sand, sea and nature. The beach is set in a very beautiful and unspoilt area.

Once you arrive at the beach there are several stone shelters you can sun bath in. Entry to the sea is to the right side of the small beach. Swimming here is normally safe as the larger ocean waves and swells are stopped by the rocks along the outskirts of the beach.

The beach is lovely white sand. La Caleta beach looks out onto a sheltered bay. The bay is mainly rocky bottomed. A section of rocks between the bay and the sea keep the waters calm and safe.

The water is crystal clear and great for swimming and snorkelling.

There are no local shops so bring all your provisions with you. Always carry water and sun cream.

Rocks around the beach can be good for fishing.

Exploring and walking around La Caleta beach

There are great walks heading both North and South along the coast from La Caleta beach. The paths are not specially made but just worn into shape by use.

Heading South from the beach just follow the coast and see the path. Just South is another small bay without any sand and difficult entry into the sea. Keep following the coast path as far as you like. You will see some great rock formations from long cooled lava flowing into the sea many years ago. Other bays and interesting formations will present themselves as you carry on.

Heading North from La Caleta beach you follow the worn path along the coast. Caleta del Mojon Blanco is an unused beach a few hundred meters North. Access from the road was blocked a few years ago so you will have this all to yourselves. If you wish you can keep walking all the way to Orzola encountering lots of interesting places and small beaches on your way.

The beach around low tide.

Captivating and volcanic surrounding landscape
