The main tourist resorts of Puerto del Carmen, Playa Blanca and Costa Teguise all have great family beaches.
If you are staying outside of these resorts there are still plenty of good beaches but more are within these resorts.

Best family beaches for Playa Blanca:-

Playa Dorada – Safe and sheltered town beach in central Playa Blanca. Lots of facilities for younger and older family members along the promenade just behind the beach plus local comercial centre. Two large sea walls either side of the beach offer a high level of shelter. Almost never any larger waves or currents enter the bay. Golden sand. Can get busy.

Playa Flamingo – A very safe and sheltered beach for family members of all ages. Located at the western end of Playa Blanca located next to the Playa Flamingo complex. The beach has white sand and clear water. The whole beach is enclosed by two sea wall that keep any waves or dangerous currents out. The promenade running adjacent to the beach has a wealth of shops and restaurants.

Papagayo beaches – The Papagayo beaches are located at the eastern end of Playa Blanca. Less facilities for everyone in the family but made of for with natural beauty. At the final beach along the headland is a bar and restaurant with toilets.

This set of seven beaches are famed as some of the most beautiful in the Canary Islands. The white sandy beaches with clear blue waters face south giving them shelter from the prevailing Northerly winds of Lanzarote.

The best family beaches in Puerto del Carmen

Puerto del Carmen has the most dependable good weather in Lanzarote, this is why it was Lanzarote’s first tourist destination for families and individuals.

Located on the south east side of Lanzarote, Puerto del Carmen rarely receives big waves or dangerous sea conditions. Large waves do arrive in Puerto del Carmen only occasionally in winter, take care on these days.
If the water is calm and flat with no waves then it is normally safe for swimming. If strong offshore winds are blowing take care with any inflatable water craft as you can get blown out to sea.

The vast majority of days in Puerto del Carmen have safe sea conditions for all the family.

On the main beach of Playa Grande in Puerto del Carmen is an offshore inflatable water park. You buy a ticket from the kiosk on the beach and swim the fifty yards out to the park. Children using the water park in Puerto del Carmen need to be strong swimmers.

The main beach also has sun beds for hire.
